The lab I did my PhD in at the University of Guelph is run by Dr. Manish Raizada and is likewise working to save the world through the study of beneficial plant microbes.
Dr. George Lazarovits is running a wonderful facility dedicated to developing diagnostics for plant diseases, studying plant and soil microbiomes and improving yields and incomes for Canadian farmers. (I did my post-doc here)
The Brazilian ministry of agriculture carries out much of its research into beneficial plant microbes at this center where biological nitrogen fixiation in grasses was discovered 50 years ago by Johanna Döbereiner.
This is the website of "Endophytes in Biotechnology and Agriculture“ which combines activities of different European laboratories in a multi- and interdisciplinary approach to compare protocols and technologies for the analysis and utilization of bacterial and fungal endophytes.
